About Me
I’ve been helping students improve grades, raise test scores, and navigate the college admissions process for over 11 years.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2015, I moved to New York City to pursue dance professionally and needed flexible side job. Tutoring sounded like the perfect gig for me, a natural teacher.
My friend got me an interview at a major tutoring agency and a few hours after my interview, I was hired.
What I expected to be a temporary side hustle quickly became a real passion.
Over the next seven years, I worked with students across NYC through one of the city’s top tutoring agencies before eventually transitioning into independent tutoring and college advising.
I’ve now worked with hundreds of students across subjects, put primarily SAT/ACT prep, math, and college applications. My students range from highly motivated high achievers aiming for top colleges to students who need to be radically redirected with more structure, clarity, and confidence.
Outside of tutoring, I continue to work professionally in dance and theater. I love showing students that creativity and academics go hand in hand! And success in school can help open up doors to their passion, whatever it may be.
Teaching Philosophy
Ambika teaches not just by answering questions but asking them, creating a safe environment for students to think out loud. Ambika responds intuitively to learning needs, while bringing warm, positive encouragement to every session.
All aspects of Ambika's approach help bring out her students' best academic performance, and a truly successful session infuses confidence, enthusiasm, and motivation in learning that transfers to all areas of life.
